I am 39 weeks pregnant how can i dilate faster?

My doctor said that my baby's head is all ready to pop out the only problem is that i need to dilate more!!! I am 39 weeks pregnant and if i don't have the baby by my appointment next week she might have to induce me!!! Any suggestions on how to get this baby going?

Did she already try stripping your membranes? Mine wouldn't strip mine until I was 1cm at least. My last appt I was 1cm and 100% effaced. The next night I woke up (2 days before due date), had my bloody show and went into labor.

You can try walking around. There isn't a sure fire way to dilate faster or go into labor faster. Most of the things people will tell you are old wives tales.

have sex there is a hormone in semen that is supposed to induce labor.didnt work for me but it did help pass the time

I heard that a warm bath softens your cervix and can cause it to be more pliable...if thats true I dont see why it couldnt dialate you...i'd try it if i were you just dont make the water too too hot
