39 weeks with first - sharp/shooting pain in crotch/pelvic area? Should I call the Dr.?

Hi everyone! I am currently 39 weeks pregnant as of today I keep getting these sharp shooting pains in my lower pelvic area will shoot down through my crotch. Sometimes it hurts so much it stops me in my tracks. They come go, I haven't been timing them or anything because I dont think that these are contractions..not from what I hear. Also, I have been having a little diherrea today (sry tmi) and a lot of extra pressure. At the Dr.'s this past Tuesday I was 2 1/2 cm. dialated,75% effaced, and the babys head was at station 0.

Best Answer:

YES....you are overdue already. call the doctor at once. don't take any chances at this stage of the game....good luck and congratulations.

Sounds like the baby is engaging even more. That was what I was told when I had the same pains around 37 weeks. Contractions will typically be felt more in your back and lower abdomen. Your baby is just preparing himself/herself to meet you! It shouldn't be too much longer.

This is your first baby and you have no idea what to expect! Don't base these pains on "from what you hear"...these could be real contractions. Start timing them...if they continue every 5 to 7 minutes for the next hour then call your Dr. or go straight to the ER. Good Luck!

If your stomach is hardening during these pains then it's most likely contractions. Start timing the pains now and call the doctor or maternity ward, whoever you're supposed to call when you feel contractions. Take it easy, relax and breath. Take your time and you'll do fine. Congrats

It sounds like you are getting ready to go into labor. I wouldn't call the doctor yet. Don't go to far from home, and if you do, take the suitcase with you. Good luck, and I hope you have a fast labor and delivery.

I think you're really close. Diarreah is your body's way of cleaning itself out before labor and if you're having pain that stops you in your tracks you're close. Congratulations and good luck!!

You should definitely call a physician immediately, this could be sign of something serious. The body gives off signals when in distress. Please do contact a dr.

I think this could be the beginning for you! I would go on line and start to time the pains, you can search for online contraction timers and that will give you something to go on. Any kind of pain this late in the game means something is going on down there and if it is stopping you in your tracks then it merits keeping track of. Some women experience diareah as a sign as it is the body's way of getting cleaned out and ready! Good luck and God bless!

That is what a doctor is for ..... I would call if you are having pain !!! They are there to help you and answer your questions !! That is why you see them all the time and pay them the big $$buck$$ !!! I think you should call whenever you have an important question. It is a totally legitimate reason to call.
